The Right Soil is the Key
The Right Soil is The Key by Mark Lutcher
Sunday Sermon Recap - July 14, 2024
The word of the day is TRANSPIRATION: the process of water movement through a plant and its evaporation from the plants’ leaves, stem, or flowers. In other words, plants absorb water and mineral nutrients through their roots and then give off water vapor through pores in their leaves, stem, or flowers. Now, let’s spiritualize this definition. The spiritual definition of TRANSPIRATION is: The movement of the trinity flowing through our veins, evaporating out our pores the sweet fragrance of God to bring life to others.
Peace cannot be conjured up by willpower alone. For you to have lasting peace you must be planted in healthy soil that provides nutrients for you to absorb, to then naturally evaporate the fruit of peace. For gardens, plants, or flowers you need a combination of different kinds of soil, fertilizer, compost, or manure mixed together in order to produce a healthy product. The same goes for us, as believers. What mixture of ‘healthy soil’ must you be in? The Father, The Son, The Holy Spirit. A healthy Christian should have a healthy interaction – one that is constant, grounded, and faithful - with the Trinity, and with His church, not lacking one of those spiritual ingredients.
Your enemy doesn’t want you in the proper soil. In the proper soil, you grow, and he will do everything to keep you from growing. He does not want you in church, so he will do everything in his power to make you believe that you don’t NEED to be there in person. The truth is, you are called biblically to be in church, IN PERSON. The church will not reach its full potential with you sitting at home. We were created for the church.
Think of yourself as a spiritual plant. The trinity is the soil. Your relationship with them is the stem. Your life is the leaves and flowers. In a plant, water comes out of its pores. As a believer who is connected with the trinity, you are supposed to be excreting the fragrance of Christ.
2 Corinthians 2:14-15
"Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph IN Christ, and THROUGH US DIFFUSES (spreads, makes evident, manifests, releases) the FRANGRANCE (sweet perfume) of His knowledge in EVERY PLACE. For WE are to God the SWEET, WHOLESOME, PLEASING, CHRIST-LIKE FRAGRANCE (pleasing aroma, pleasant smell) OF CHRIST among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing."
The Message Version…
"IN the Messiah, IN Christ, God leads us from place to place in one perpetual victory parade. THROUGH US, he brings knowledge of Christ. EVERYWHERE WE GO, people breathe in the EXQUISITE FRAGRANCE. BECAUSE OF CHRIST, WE GIVE OFF A SWEET SCENT rising to God."
Again, plant transpiration is the movement of water through a plant and evaporating out of the pores of the plant. Spiritual transpiration is the movement of the trinity flowing through our veins, evaporating out of our pores the sweet fragrance of God to bring life to others. Spiritual transpiration is what will naturally happen when you have spiritual transformation. When you get your roots into the right soil, you will begin to perspire God everywhere you go. This pleasing fragrance comes from a person rooted in peace. When you root yourself in the soil of the trinity, you will receive the fruits of the spirit. If you want to experience long-lasting peace in your life, one of the most important fruits of the spirit to never let drop, or to let rot, is Joy.
Habakkuk 3 : 17 – 1
"THOUGH the fig tree does not bud AND there are no grapes on the vines, THOUGH the olive crop fails AND the fields produce no food, THOUGH there are no sheep in the pen AND no cattle in the stalls, YET I WILL REJOICE IN THE LORD, I WILL BE JOYFUL IN GOD MY SAVIOR."
I encourage you to listen to the song, Firm Foundation (He Won’t) by Cody Carnes and really soak in the lyrics this week.
Pray with us today:
Father, we thank you for an incredible message on a word that comes from plants. We were inspired to transpire. Will you help us? Today we're asking for help. Holy Spirit, we directly speak to you with our hands on our hearts, and we say, will you help me? Will you help me to put my roots in the healthy soil of the Trinity and figure out what it means to have a relationship with God my Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit who is with me every day? Will you help me to represent you well in a world of chaos? Will you help me not just go on social media and express everything I'm feeling? But only spread what You would want me to share? Peace, hope, love, joy, gentleness, kindness, faithfulness, goodness, and self-control. I want to drip God. I want to perspire Jesus. I want to sweat the Holy Spirit everywhere I go. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
